World famous Music City USA will be the site of Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority Convention 2004.  Named after Revolutionary War hero General Francis Nash, Nashville became the capitol of Tennessee in 1843.  Today, Nashville is home to the Grand Ole Opry and many other attractions, such as the Bluebird Café, Belle Meade Plantation, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Accommodations will be provided by the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University , adjacent to the University of Vanderbilt stadium and Centennial Park , home of the only replica the Parthenon.  The Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University provides deluxe accommodations, with several options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  In addition, there are a variety of restaurants in the area to choose from, such as PF Chang’s, Fleming’s Steak, Bread and Company, Chili’s and the famous Rotier’s.

Please make plans now to attend Convention 2004 in Nashville , Tennessee .  Visit www.nashville.com, or www.nashvillecvb.com for more information about Nashville .

This year’s convention will be one of more sisterhood bonding, service, leadership, and less legislation!  The delegation of Convention 2003 passed legislation to only deal with constitutional legislation at odd year conventions!  This year will be our first convention devoted more to sisterhood bonding, leadership training, and service, without 8-10 hours of business.  We will have a small amount of legislation that has been deemed "emergency legislation," but it will be considerably less than in the past. Save the date and make plans to head to Nashville , TN this July.

Our service project this year will be a 5K walk to benefit the Omega Phi Alpha Scholarship Trust.  Our goal is to raise at least $5,000!  Delegates and non-delegates will be collecting pledges in their community and from fellow sisters, and then participating in the walk on Saturday, July 17.  Sisters unable to attend convention can still participate in this year’s service project by making a donation.  Donations are tax deductible since the scholarship trust is a 501c(3) entity.

Additionally, we are planning a second alumnae-only service project for Thursday, July 15, and we are hosting a Service Poster Session where convention attendees will collect detailed information on numerous service project ideas in all areas of service: community projects, campus projects, nations of the world projects, sisterhood projects, president’s projects, and mental health projects.

There will be a series of leadership workshops for delegates to attend, in addition to District meetings, President's, Service, and Membership Councils, and annual training for Traveling Leadership Consultants, and National Executive Board officers.  Workshop topics for this year include: Publicity, Membership Building , Setting Finance Procedures and Policies, Motivation and Commitment, & Alumnae Support and Communication

We have some exciting sisterhood activities planned for this year to build new friendships, and reunite with old friends.  We’ve planned Spa pampering Friday afternoon for non-delegates and alumnae, and we have a fashion show and a presentation on “The Role of Women Leaders Throughout the Decades” scheduled for all attendees Friday evening.  On Saturday, we’ll have a catered BBQ lunch for all attendees, in addition to the awards banquet on Saturday night.

Additional information and registration forms for the Service Poster Session and  5K are available below, as well as the convention registration form.  If you prefer a paper copy of the registration, please contact Susie Larson, VP Business.
