National Scholarship Guidelines

Omega Phi Alpha awards scholarships to its members to help further their education.

Scholarship amounts are based on the amount of interest earned on the OPA Scholarship Fund each year and increase as the fund grows. In 2004, three $100 scholarships were awarded.

Criteria

Scholarship candidates must be:
1. A sister of Omega Phi Alpha
2. Active in good standing or an alumna
3. Enrolled in a full-time academic program
4. Submit application by the March 1 deadline
5. Be in good academic standing with her college or university

The scholarship award is primarily based on demonstrated commitment to the ideals of Omega Phi Alpha. Financial situation and/or scholastic achievement are not criteria for the award. Scholarship applications are anonymously judged by a board of trustees (comprised of the national vp finance, an active sister, and an alumna sister).

Recipients are announced each year at the national convention.

Support

Donors are needed to support O Phi A's scholarship program. The Omega Phi Alpha Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)3, tax deductible entity. It is the donations from chapters and sorority alumnae that make this award continue to grow.

Each chapter may conduct fundraisers to support the national scholarship, and will earn points toward the Chapter Excellence Program. The National Treasury will match all funds contributed by chapters each year up to $2,000 or the amount approved in the national budget, whichever is less.

To contribute to the scholarship fund, please make checks payable to Omega Phi Alpha Scholarship Fund and send to:
